The Blue Planet in Concert
The Blue Planet was unlike any other nature film when it appeared in 2001.
Producer Alastair Fothergill and presenter David Attenborough went in search of the most stunning visuals they could find, allowing themselves to be led by the beauty of the ocean first rather than the stories of the creatures it contains.
The series of films they produced would be nothing without George Fenton’s epic music, itself crafted like a series of mini-movie scores each with its own distinctive feel. From the Brucknerian heave of the ocean to the balletic dance of penguins and sardines, Fenton’s music brings the ocean alive as much as the stunning sequences filmed above and below water.
The composer comes to Bergen to conduct his music live as an accompaniment to the drama, action, thrills and heartache of this remarkable piece of nature documentary.
